“I Am A Canadian Craft Brewer” Video

VANCOUVER, BC – To help promote Vancouver Craft Beer Week, taking place May 10th to 16th, the event organizers have produced a video in the style of the “I Am A Craft Brewer” short film produced by American craft brewers last year.

Entitled “I Am A Canadian Craft Brewer”, it features primarily brewers from British Columbia, but is also meant to honour the hard work and passion of small-scale brewers all across the country. Check it out below:

New Limited Edition Beers From Red Truck Beer Company

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver food & culture website Scout Magazine reports that Red Truck Beer Company has just released one limited edition beer, with two more to follow next month.

Out now is Red Truck IPA, with availability limited to six Vancouver bars & restaurants – The Alibi Room, The Flying Tiger, The Village Taphouse, The Gramercy GrillSt.Augustine’s, and Caffe Barney on Main – for the next four weeks.

Following in May will be Red Truck Pilsner, which will be released at Hoppapalooza in the Alibi Room on May 10th to celebrate the launch of Vancouver Craft Beer Week.

The next day, Red Track will be partnering with Au Petit Chavignol restaurant on an exclusive five-course beer dinner, featuring courses paired with the beers mentioned above along with their standard Red Truck Lager and Red Truck Ale, and the new limited edition Red Truck Stout.

Halifax Microbrew Festival 2010 Cancelled

HALIFAX, NS – Tory Burtch has reported on his Great Canadian Pubs & Beer blog that the first Halifax Microbrewery Festival & Conference, planned to take place in Halifax this coming October, has been cancelled.

As originally announced last November, the event was intended to “bring together craft breweries, home brewers, industry experts, and beer lovers” from across Canada for a combination consumer tasting festival and industry professional conference.

The reason for the cancellation is unknown to CBN at this time.

Ontario Craft Brewers Announce Ontario Craft Beer Week

TORONTO, ON – The Ontario Craft Brewers today announced plans for the first annual Ontario Craft Beer Week, set to take place June 20th to 26th, 2010. Full details are in the press release included below:

The inaugural week will run from June 20 – 26, 2010, throughout the province of Ontario. OCB is the association representing 25 small, independent craft brewers in Ontario.

The week-long festival will feature a series of special events designed to expose consumers to the craft beer experience through tasting events, brewery tours, cooking demonstrations, food pairings, beer dinners, and much more. Ontario Craft Beer Week will kick off on Father’s Day with special events at breweries and restaurants.

Mondial de la bière 2010

MONTREAL, QC – Details have been announced for the 17th edition of the Mondial de la bière, Montreal’s acclaimed annual beer festival, which will be taking place on June 2nd to 6th, 2010.

CAMRA Vancouver Announces 2010 Awards & Vancouver Craft Beer Week

VANCOUVER, BC – The Vancouver chapter of the Campaign for Real Ale British Columbia (CAMRA BC) announced the results of its annual members poll this past week, recognizing excellence in brewing and beer service in Vancouver and surrounding areas.

Categories awarded include Best Local Brewpub, Best Local Beer Event, Best BC Brewery, and recognizing the increasing popularity of cask-conditioned ale, this year saw the addition of Best Local Cask Night as a new category. A full list of winners appears after the jump below.

In addition, it was announced that the first annual Vancouver Craft Beer Week (VCBW) festival will take place May 10-16, 2010. Further details will be revealed soon on the VCBW website.

Granville Island and Fuller’s to Participate in International Beer Exchange

VANCOUVER, BC – As part of the celebrations leading up to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Granville Island Brewing is participating in a unique “International Beer Exchange” with the Fuller’s Brewery of London, UK.

From January 25 to February 5, the Granville Island Brewing Taproom (1441 Cartwright Street, Vancouver) will feature Fuller’s London Pride on tap. In exchange, Granville Island Lions Winter Ale will be featured at The Iron Duke, one of the Fuller’s-owned pubs in London.

A formal kick-off for the beer exchange will take place at the Taproom on Wednesday, January 27th, from 6pm to 9pm.

Half Pints Burlywine Day 2009

WINNIPEG, MBHalf Pints Brewing will be holding this year’s edition of their annual Burlywine Day open house on Saturday, December 5th, 2009.

As the name suggests, the day marks the release of their annual winter seasonal, Half Pints Burlywine, and the 2009 vintage will be available for sale and sampling at the brewery. In addition, a limited number of bottles of the 2008 vintage will be available, along with the equally limited Bourbon Burlywine, which is the 2008 version aged on Bourbon soaked French oak chips.

Half Pints is also encouraging all attendees to “bring a tin for the bin” in support of Winnipeg Harvest food bank, and there will be tours and giveaways throughout the day.

Following the launch, Burlywine 2009 will be available at select liquor stores and bars in Manitoba, as well as a few out-of-province locations.

Garrison Oktoberfest Beer & Event

garrison_logoHALIFAX, NSGarrison Brewing recently released their latest seasonal beer, Garrison Oktoberfest, and they’ll be pouring it at an Oktoberfest celebration this Saturday, October 3rd at Pavilion 20, across from the brewery at the Halifax Seaport.

In addition to the Oktoberfest brew, they will also be serving their Harvest Wheat Ale, and there will be live music and traditional German food. The event runs from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with as admission cost of $8 for adults or $4 for children. Bar proceeds will go to Feed Nova Scotia.
